November 7th, 2012 || London show and free downloads

We are very pleased to announce that we’ll make our first live appearance in well over a year on Saturday 1st December, when we visit London for the first time. It’s a great lineup with OBE and There Are Ghosts, with all the details available over at Facebook, supported by the best online facebook likes supplier.

As part of promotion for this show, we’ve made all of our digital downloads available for free over at our music store. We hope you’ll enjoy them enough to tip us a couple of pounds/dollars/etc. or order the CDs, but we’re keen for our output to be available for anyone who wants it.

Audiophiles will be pleased to know that FLAC downloads are now high resolution 24 bit, 88.2 kHz files straight from our studio masters.

November 27th, 2011 || A Cheery Wave

Back in July we played a few shows around the UK to promote our new album. The video we captured in Liverpool came out looking and sounding the best, so we’ve decided to make the whole set available below. The audio is also available to download from the Internet Live Music Archive.

In addition to this, Flies Are Spies From Hell have kindly included us on the latest installment of their compilation series promoting UK post-rock, instrumental and math-rock artists. When Our Eyes First Met features on A Cheery Wave From Stranded Youngsters (Third Wave) alongside tracks from Talons, Brontide and many more – please take a moment to check out some great new music and support some of our contemporaries.

July 20th, 2011 || The Courage to Start Again

Back in February we spent a week (and then some) at the Snug Recording Co in Derby going a little crazy with cabin fever making our debut full-length album. It’s called The Courage to Start Again, it’s seven tracks long and it’s out this week.

Rich and Rob did an incredible job of capturing the music we’ve been composing over the last few years. They’ve previously worked with You Slut!, Therapy? and LostAlone to name a few, and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.

The final mastering sheen on the album was applied by Medi at Shelsmusic out in California. His bands and label have been consistently turning out quality music for the last decade and it was great to have someone so passionate help complete our vision. It would be rude not to note that the new *shels album is out this month.

You can now listen to the entire album over at our music store. CDs and downloads are both flexibly priced, and all physical orders come with a free instant download.

Following on from our album launch on Saturday, we’re playing shows in Liverpool and Cardiff next week to promote the new record. Our recent interview with LeftLion is now available to read, and we’re hoping to share more sounds and videos in the near future.

April 20th, 2011 || When Our Eyes First Met

We are pleased to finally unveil the first taste of our new album, The Courage to Start Again, which can now be pre-ordered from our music store. When Our Eyes First Met leads a free, three-track EP featuring two exclusive b-sides. The press release reads as follows:

…And Stars Collide return in 2011 with “The Courage to Start Again”, their first full-length album. April 21st marks the release of a free download EP lead by album track “When Our Eyes First Met”, an eight-minute epic that defies the post-rock blueprint with its ferocious opening salvo. Two self-produced non-album tracks serve as B-sides on the effort, which is available now from andstarscollide.com and will be appearing on a number of directly-targeted blogs and BitTorrent trackers.

Based in Nottingham, England, …And Stars Collide received widespread acclaim for their self-titled debut EP during 2009. “The Courage to Start Again” builds on this previous work, retaining its guitar-driven instrumental nature, but pushing the dynamics wider and honing the arrangements to flow relentlessly from start to finish. Recorded by Richard Collins and Robin Newman (Therapy?, You Slut!, LostAlone) and mastered by Medi Safa (*shels, Black Sheep Wall, Mahumodo), the seven-track album will see a CD release in July through the band’s Sky Weeps Productions imprint.

We’ve also confirmed our first live show of the year for May 11th at the Chameleon in Nottingham, with What the Blood Revealed and The Union Station Massacre. Tour dates are currently being booked for July to support the album release, and we would welcome any invitations.

Please feel encouraged to share the new EP far and wide – we recorded these B-sides for free, and are making them available for the same price. As per our previous release, the new album is entirely self-funded. Recording and releasing music to a professional standard is a protracted and expensive process (particularly without label involvement), so if you enjoy the upgrade in quality please consider the cut-price pre-order we currently have on offer.

January 15th, 2011 || Fan mail

We got an email last night:

from: [random string of characters that looks like a spambot]
to: band@andstarscollide.com
date: 14 January 2011 20:42
subject: HEY ASSHOLES
body: hurry up and make another album. holy shit.

Well, sir/madam, you will be pleased to know that we are heading to the Snug Recording Co. on February 5th to record our first full-length album. We probably should have told you earlier, but we were busy writing, and demoing, and deciding that we demo’d the lead track at the wrong tempo, and temporarily clearing out of our practice room because the gym upstairs flooded, and so on. We’ll endeavour to do better next time – we’ve even set up a Twitter account so that you can monitor how much we’re killing each other…

The album will be seven tracks long and should see a release in the summer. It will probably be preceded by a digital EP in the spring, and we’ll play some shows too – offers always welcome.

July 18th, 2010 || Facts and figures

  • We have officially started recording DIY demos for our as-yet-untitled debut full-length album.
  • This will be a long, long process, as we are collectively pretty bad at playing in time, and can’t commit more than a few hours a week to it.
  • This is not helped by the fact that we haven’t finished writing two of the songs either.
  • We have a short-list of ten tracks – we’ve played all of the other written eight live at some point.
  • The album will be somewhere between six and nine tracks long – we will probably use the remaining demo(s) for “b-sides”.
  • We probably won’t play live again until demoing is finished and “real” recording is about to start.
  • We’ll be doing everything off of our own backs again, so feel free to show us some charity and pick up a copy of our EP if you haven’t done so already. Thanks!

February 12th, 2009 || Warm-up show

…And Stars Collide will play a warm-up show at the newly-relaunched Seven in Nottingham next Wednesday. This will be the band’s first live outing since the release of their debut EP, which is now available to purchase online.

January 5th, 2009 || Release details

The debut self-titled EP from …And Stars Collide finally saw a low-scale release last week, and will be available for online ordering soon. Copies should already be available from Selectadisc in Nottingham, and the CD will be on sale at all future live shows. The first of these will hopefully be announced later this week.
