We have officially started recording DIY demos for our as-yet-untitled debut full-length album.
This will be a long, long process, as we are collectively pretty bad at playing in time, and can’t commit more than a few hours a week to it.
This is not helped by the fact that we haven’t finished writing two of the songs either.
We have a short-list of ten tracks – we’ve played all of the other written eight live at some point.
The album will be somewhere between six and nine tracks long – we will probably use the remaining demo(s) for “b-sides”.
We probably won’t play live again until demoing is finished and “real” recording is about to start.
We’ll be doing everything off of our own backs again, so feel free to show us some charity and pick up a copy of our EP if you haven’t done so already. Thanks!

Signs of life

We realised that if you’re not following us on Facebook, you probably won’t know about a gig we have coming up in a few weeks. After almost a year without a proper live set, we’ll be unveiling the fruits of our labour on Friday 14th May at The Central in Nottingham. The current plan is to play all unreleased material, with up to three brand new songs on show.

We sorted out a proper rehearsal room-share in February, which means we’re now playing together once or twice per week rather than per month. We’ve been able to really focus on writing new music that we hope to record for an album later this year, and will bring you some more detail once more detail exists.

New year, new website. Various things on offer, including integration with our new Bandcamp-hosted music store and our Flickr photostream. More updates to follow shortly, but please let us know if you find any bugs in the mean time.

Headline show

Thursday 18th June will see …And Stars Collide take to the stage at Seven to play their first proper headline show. This comes on the back of a continuing stream of positive reviews, which have now been added to the biography page of the site.

Rock Sound review

There’s a very complimentary review of the …And Stars Collide EP in the April 2009 edition of Rock Sound magazine, which is as usual well worth a read. On the back of this, the band will support Great Eskimo Hoax at the Chameleon in Nottingham on Saturday 18th April. Advanced tickets are available here, and there should be another new song being unveiled on the night.

In website news, the images page has now been updated with a photoshoot from November and a more practical layout.

Warm-up show

…And Stars Collide will play a warm-up show at the newly-relaunched Seven in Nottingham next Wednesday. This will be the band’s first live outing since the release of their debut EP, which is now available to purchase online.

Supporting Pure Reason Revolution

…And Stars Collide will support Pure Reason Revolution at The Bodega Social Club in Nottingham on Friday 13th March. This is likely to serve as the launch event for the new EP, and should see the unveiling of a new song or two in the setlist.

The debut self-titled EP from …And Stars Collide finally saw a low-scale release last week, and will be available for online ordering soon. Copies should already be available from Selectadisc in Nottingham, and the CD will be on sale at all future live shows. The first of these will hopefully be announced later this week.
